Dioscorea Villosa(Mother Tincture)

Tincture of fresh root, or trituration of resinoid, Dioscorein.

Common Name: Dioscorea,  Wild yam. 

Causes & Symptoms for Dioscorea Villosa

• Dioscorea is useful in colic or neuralgia pains mainly in the abdominal and bowels and stomach.
• Dioscorea causes pain in the bowels, spasmodic, twisting, writhing, drawing, lancinating, pulsating, burning.
• Pain in forehead, extending into nose, with nausea and coryza.
• Sharp cutting pain from left axilla to nipple and down side deep in lung.

Mind and Head

Company is disagreeable, Irritable and feels cross and troubled.

Pains in temples, and occiput, dull pressure of sharp stabbing, causing a dull stupid sensation Squeezing pains in head indicates Dioscorea

Violent throbbing in temples, Vertigo with heat in head, with sharp pains in right side of forehead extending to ears is relieved with this remedy.

Eyes, ear, nose

Eyes weak, sore, smart, eyelids stiff or gummed in morning.

Both ears feel suddenly stopped up, and are sore to touch with hard pain in front of both ears, and behind left ear.

Nose stopped up, dry, or watery discharge, dryness of nose with soreness inside is relieved with Dioscorea.

Mouth and Throat

Dioscorea is indicates for little pimples with black heads, corners of mouth are sore.

Stiffness of jaw with soreness of gums, extending to roof of mouth, Tongue sore on sides.

Pain on back and right side of throat causing choking sensation is relieved with Dioscorea.

Stomach and abdomen

Sharp cramping pain in pit of stomach with belching large quantities of wind indicates Dioscorea.

Inordinate belching of gases with vomiting and purging. Stomach painful on pressure with burning.

Neuralgia and spasmodic affections of liver and gall-ducts.

Severe cramping pain just above umbilicus is relieved with Dioscorea.

Pain in inguinal regions extending to the testicles.

Stool and Anus

During pregnancy, alternate constipation and relaxation indicates Dioscorea with very offensive flatulence.

Urinary complaints

Spasmodic stricture of urethra, with pain about umbilicus is relieved with Dioscorea.

Male complaints

Strong-smelling perspiration of the genitals, with relaxed genitals, absence of desire, and emissions without erections indicates Dioscorea.

Nocturnal emissions, with lameness of back and vivid dreams of women all night.

Pain and spasm of spermatic cord extend to testicles and penis.

Dioscorea is indicated for the pains that suddenly fly to distant parts.

Female complaints

Dioscorea resolves the dysmenorrhoea, uterine colic, and after-pains.

Gastric disorders during pregnancy and the menses. Cramps in fingers and toes alternating with uterine pains.

Neck and Back

Sharp pains in the back, Back lame in morning, drawing pains in sacrum.

Dull pain in back of neck is relieved with Dioscorea.

Extremities

Knees lame, weak, and painful, trembling, Ankles weak and painful indicates Dioscorea.

Hard aching pains in bones of forearm, and in wrist and hands is resolved with this remedy.

Itching of various parts of the body and limbs with restless, trembling feet.

Generalities

A constant pain, aggravated at regular intervals by paroxysms of intense suffering with frequent sharp, darting pains from one part to another.

Pains worse at meals, better moving about, cannot sit still indicates Dioscorea.

Side effects of Dioscorea Villosa  

There are no such side effects. But every medicine should be taken following the rules as given. 

It is safe to take the medicine even if you are on other mode of medication like allopathy medicines, ayurvedic etc.

Dosage and rules while taking Dioscorea Villosa

Take 10 drops in half cup of water three times a day.

Precautions while taking Dioscorea Villosa

Always keep a gap of 15 minutes before or after meals when you take medicine.
